'She Deserves Her Flowers and Everyone's Respect,' 'She's My Finals MVP' — 2-Time WNBA All-Star Raves About Angel Reese's Turnaround With Dream Rohit De Thu, October 22, 2026 at 7:04 PM UTC · 3 min read About Our Ads Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement The Atlanta Dream are making a strong push in the WNBA Finals against the Golden State Valkyries. After losing Game 1, the Dream have bounced back with two straight wins and now lead the series 2-1.

With Angel Reese playing a major role in their turnaround, the Atlanta star has also earned praise from Chiney Ogwumike. The two-time WNBA All-Star believes Reese deserves even more recognition for her performances.

During Thursday's edition of ESPN's "First Take," Ogwumike shared her pick for this year's Finals MVP, naming Reese as her choice based on her performances so far. She praised the forward's run throughout the series and also expressed confidence in her ability to win a championship.

"Now she makes this transition to Atlanta, where the A in Atlanta right now stands for Angel Reese. Through three games, she's my Finals MVP. No question about it. And what she's been able to do has been truly impressive…"

"She could win a championship. She has been the missing link for a team that has had talent. She now sets them over the edge. And so I'm really thoroughly like this is a unique era for the WNBA, and she deserves her flowers and everyone's respect," Ogwumike said during the segment.

The Atlanta forward has recorded a double-double in every game of this year's Finals so far. She scored 14 points in Game 1, which the Dream lost 68-64. Reese then delivered 30 points in Game 2, helping Atlanta secure a 79-65 victory. She followed that performance with another strong outing, scoring 21 points in Game 3.

The Dream carried their momentum into Game 3 and looked in control for much of the contest. They finished the first quarter with an 8-point lead and maintained their advantage at halftime, going into the break 6 points ahead.

Atlanta then scored 25 points in the third quarter. However, it was in the fourth quarter that the Dream truly pulled away. The Valkyries struggled to handle the pressure and ultimately lost.

Reese has also received valuable support from her teammates throughout the series. Rhyne Howard set a Finals record with 6 steals in Game 2. She added 5 more steals and scored 16 points in the Game 3 blowout.

Allisha Gray has also contributed with consistent scoring, including 18 points in Game 2. Meanwhile, point guard Jordin Canada has helped Atlanta's offense with her playmaking ability. Canada came close to a triple-double in Game 2 as she finished with 13 points, 10 assists, and 7 rebounds.

Now, Reese and Atlanta will turn their attention to Game 4 on Saturday. With Atlanta leading 2-1, another victory would put the Dream one win away from the championship.
